Safeguarding and Protection Policy

1. Purpose of this Policy

SOS Combatives CIC is committed to creating a safe, respectful, and empowering
environment for all participants, particularly those who may be vulnerable due to age,
gender, health, disability, or life circumstances.


This policy sets out our commitment to safeguarding the welfare of all children, young
people, and vulnerable adults who participate in our activities. It provides guidance to staff, instructors, volunteers, and visitors to help them recognise, respond to, and report any concerns.

2. Our Commitment

- All participants, regardless of background, have a right to feel safe and be protected from harm.
- We will ensure that all instructors and volunteers are aware of safeguarding principles and understand how to report concerns.
- We will maintain a zero-tolerance policy on bullying, harassment, or abuse of any kind.
- We will act immediately on any disclosure, allegation, or suspicion of abuse.

3. Who This Policy Applies To

- All SOS Combatives CIC instructors, staff, and volunteers
- All attendees and participants in our sessions or events
- Visitors or external partners working alongside us

5. Safeguarding Procedures

- All sessions will be conducted in safe, supervised environments.
- A qualified first aider and a first aid kit will be available at every session.
- All instructors are DBS checked and trained in basic safeguarding awareness.
- We will obtain written permission and contact details for all participants when required.
- We will never share personal data without explicit consent, unless required by law or
safeguarding duty.

6. Recognising Abuse

Abuse may take the form of:
- Physical abuse
- Emotional abuse
- Sexual abuse
- Neglect
- Discrimination or exploitation
Instructors and volunteers will be made aware of how to recognise signs of distress or
disclosures.

7. Reporting Concerns

If a concern is raised or a disclosure made:
- Listen calmly, without judgement
- Reassure the individual they have done the right thing
- Do not promise confidentiality — explain you must report it
- Record the concern factually and immediately inform the DSL (Reece Reeve)
- If there is an immediate risk of harm, contact emergency services: 999

8. Review and Updates

This policy will be reviewed annually or after any safeguarding incident.
